Midnight Academy kap 6

Filled with fury, I ran in full speed towards the dorm. God, it felt good running, pushing myself, I ran even faster. When I reached the small hill, that separated our dorm from the main school building, I stopped running to catch my breath. I clutched my knees for support while gasping for air.
How could I be so stupid? Of course Erik didn’t have any feelings for me and here I was; gasping for hair with a heart beating so loud the vampires would have a hard time not hearing it. What’s with Erik not being a virgin? When had he…?
“Why is everyone acting so strange lately?” I said in despair.
“Who Knows?”
I spun around to where the voice came from. Daniel stood behind me with his arms crossed and watched me curiously. His dark, tousled hair was dripping wet, strange, had he showered? His dark eyes searched mine.
“What do you want?” I said coldly, backing a few steps away from him, creating distains between us.
“Hey I won’t hurt you,” he said holding up his hands. “I just saw you running up the hill like an idiot and got curious”
“Oh,” I murmured and blushed. I always felt nervous around vampires, but I felt even more nervous around Daniel. I guess it was because I didn’t trust them, before you knew it they could rip your throat open, feasting on you. I shuddered, feeling my heartbeat quicken in fear. Daniel reached out his hand and was about to put it on my cheek but I flinched away from it.
“Sorry…I won’t hurt you,” Daniel murmured. “You’re freezing, aren’t you?”
“Huh,” I said frowning.
“You shuddered just now, I noticed. I thought I could get you warm, somehow,” he said smiling gently, showing a pair of perfectly sharp fangs.
“No, I’m not freezing, I’m afraid,” I said eyeing him doubtfully.
“Why?” Daniel said raising an eyebrow.
“I don’t trust vampires,” I muttered.
Daniel laughed out loud, I glared at him and he composed himself when he saw me glaring.
“Look, why are you even in this school if you don’t like vampires?” He chuckled.
“I never said I didn’t like vampires, I just don’t trust them,” I said. “I’m on a patrol now, so if you excuse me.”
“Sure, see you around,” Daniel smiled. I gave him a tight smile and changed my direction, if I hadn’t met Daniel I would’ve run to the dorm without doing the patrol. I headed to the B-wing, which were my only place to patrol now.

While patrolling I remembered the day two years ago when Alistar presented the idea about Midnight Academy. He had gathered me and Erik in his study together with twelve vampirehunters.
“Ladies and gentlemen, let me show you the Midnight Academy.” Alistar said proudly. His brown hair was pulled back in a tiny ponytail and his brown eyes glimmered with excitement.
“This will be a school were vampires and humans will co-exist, they will learn to live together and respect each other. Making this silent war between hunters and vampires come to an end.”
“What will we gain from that?” One of the hunters named Joe said.
“How can we just put a bunch of vampires together with humans and expect them to not kill these?” Another hunter named Clair said.
“Easy now! What we will gain is hopefully; cooperation between our species. I’ve been in contact with one of the royals and if this project succeeds than, we might open a blood bank for the vampires. We donate some of our blood, storing it in a blood bank, meaning they won’t have to kill to feed,” Alistar said calmly.
“They’re not trustworthy! Why should we give them our blood for free? We all know they will kill us even if they have the blood bank,” Joe yelled.
“Look, this is the plan. In six months, I will open Midnight Academy, young vampires; some of them at least, will attend the school. They will have classes about human history and their own history. Also they will have ‘normal’ classes, such as math and English. At first, no human students will attend the school, except,” Alistar said and pointed at Erik and me.
“What?” I gasped. Erik didn’t say anything.
“I want you as guardians; I will test the vampires with you. You will guard the grounds and get trained by real vampirehunters so you will be able to protect yourself. And for the teachers, you twelve hunters will serve as teachers and you will treat the vampires well,” Alistar said the last part grimly eyeing the twelve hunters.
“There is no arguing, this is already settled with the royals of the vampires,” Alistar said proudly and clasped his hands.
After his speech there had been countless questions, but Alistar had explained the same thing over and over. Simply that the war between hunter and vampires were reaching a breaking point, both spices needed to learn how to co-exist. Now it had been two years and things were going pretty well, we kept our promised and donated blood to the students; of course we had to import blood from the local hospital since the blood of fifteen people weren’t enough.

Lost I thoughts, I wandered aimlessly around. The B-wing had been calm as usual; I didn’t really feel like going back to the dorm yet. I was still pissed at Erik, how could he say that he first wanted to sleep with me and then telling me about the virgin thing? Just thinking about it made my blood boil. Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder.
“Erika?”
I turned and saw Erik standing behind me, I glared at him.
“What?” I snapped.
“I need to talk to you,” he murmured.

Ah, thanks for the background details. Now it all fits togheter nicely.
Except that the vampires dont seems escpecialy eager fullfilling their part of the deal.
Daniel was quite near taking a sip there...

But I have to say, after this part, I´m voting on him instead of Erik.
