A Prince´s Confession - 7

Kap 7

Somehow, walking to the field I always thought of meeting with that strange girl. I even asked my father to give me info about this black curly haired girl.
Ayaka, I thought.
That was her name. She works at the flower shop with her mother and as I saw, the income they get it wasn’t the very best. Maybe that’s why she’s always pissed off.
Standing in the fields, I could see this short little guy trying to steal something. As I kept on walking closer, I saw what he was stealing. Maybe using a harsh tone would scare him off.
“You know that’s like stealing,” I said.
I could see the boy tense up and turned around to look at me. But once I saw the face, I knew I had mistaken. Nobody could forget that face, and the little bits of curly hair coming out.
Why is she stealing? And looking like that? I thought, for myself.
“You” I said, as I was walking closer. “What in the earth are you doing?”
Ayaka looked at me with creased eyebrows and remained silent. I analyzed her clothing and it was very different from how girls wear cloths. She had pants and a white blues; almost like…what I’m wearing.
“I…eh…what, is it your field?” she said, cockily.
“Huh?” was the only thing that came out from me. Well, I couldn’t tell her I owned this whole city…”No. But the person that does might be very hurt” I said.
She looked down and let go of it. She then rushed past me, which again took me by surprise. Her sudden actions always took me by surprise, maybe because I’m not used to how women behave. Well that’s not very womanly of her though, I knew that she was different from the others.
I took hold of her arm and spun her around, “What is it?” I asked.
I could feel her tension and distress, something I achieved which is different from humans. She averted her eyes and sighed.
I creased my eyebrows, was there something she didn’t want to say? Why would I care anyways? I thought.
I was still holding her wrists and I pulled her a bit close to me to catch her attention, “I don’t like repeating myself” I said, “What is it?”
Suddenly, maybe I was mistaken by the moonlight shining but I could see some red colour on her cheeks. Was it something embarrassing then?
“Well…it’s a problem which only peasants have to go through,” she said, and yanked her hand free.
I looked at her with my eyes widened and somehow she managed to make me feel guilty. She started walking towards the lake and I followed her behind. Later she sat down on the grass with her feet out on the lake. I stood behind her and noticed how beautiful the lake looked right now. The moonlight lit the water, which gave a completely different color to the lake.
“Why do I always see you at night?” she asked.
I walked towards her and sat down beside her. I sat with my back stretched and my hands touching the grass, “I like this place at night” I said. It was half a lie and half the truth. I was just hiding the other reason.
“Were do you live?” she asked, and looked at me.
I poked her forehead and pushed her away a bit, “Hey quit with the questions. You’re not a police,” I said, jokingly.
She just smiled as a response, which made me feel guilty again. Damn that woman loves to make me feel guilty, I thought, frustrated.
I bent down towards her, to see her face as the moon’s light lit her face perfectly. “Could you tell me what peasants go through?” I asked, nicely.
She snorted, “Stop with the questioning” she mimicked me.
This made me slightly annoyed, but it was I to blame. Why would she talk about her problems when I’m not even answering her questions? Somehow, it felt like hers were more important than mine were.
“Ayaka” I mumbled.
Ayaka looked at me with her eyes widened. “How do you know my name?!” she exclaimed.
“I looked it up” I said, “When I want to know something, I won’t give up until I get to know it” I said, blinking towards her.
She smiled then, “Stalker?” she said, “Well then I might as well follow your policy since I want to know more about you,” she said.
My stomach tensed and my eyebrows creased, “Don’t…I’m not that important. So, tell me your problem?” I said, trying to change the subject.
“You know, some people try to distract others from their problems. You just dig in and make the others feel pain of remembering”
“You think so? I think that distracting yourself is running away.”
Ayaka remained silent for a moment and then she sighed, “We might loose our shop…and it’s just…we might be moved and lose everything.
“And…mom has to work at this creepy guys place that likes her. And I don’t want him to do anything towards her…so I told her I would find a job. My limit is two weeks, if I haven’t found anything…then…” she said.
Thinking about her not staying her would actually make me lonely. I nodded towards her as a reply. I was thinking of various ways of helping her, but nothing came in mind. Until…I thought of a great idea that would make her get lots of money. And I wouldn’t be bored all the time, I was laughing to myself this time. I was going to make her life very troublesome right now and it’s going to be really fun.
“I have a job in mind. But I’ll warn you…it will make you very exhausted and you’ll eventually hate it” I said, smiling.
She looked at me and snorted, “I can handle any job I want!” she said.
I stood up and started walking towards the castle. The time limit was closing. I looked down at her and smiled; “Well then…you’ll get a short notice of the job soon…maybe the day after tomorrow” I said and started walking back.
“W-wait!” Ayaka said behind me.
I stopped and looked at her, “What?”
“Tomorrow in the afternoon…there’s going to be a festival. You have to go in pairs and finally I’m allowed to go for my mom. It’s my first time…would you like to go with me?” she asked.
I groaned inside, in the morning when the sun is out? I thought.
Well, going with her might ease the guiltiness of calling her bad names and pushing her around. I walked towards her and took her hand, “Well…young boy. As a sorry for calling you peasant, I will go with you” I said, and lightly kissed her hand.
I looked up at her and winked, “See you then. Oh and I’d rather you wear a dress” I said, laughing. She then hit me on my arms with her eyebrows creased.
